Troubleshooting Guide

Output Not Updating

The tool relies on JavaScript. Please ensure it is enabled in your browser. If you are pasting a very large list, there might be a brief delay while it processes.

Copy Buttons Not Working

This feature requires browser permission to modify the clipboard. Check if your browser or any security extensions are blocking this action. As a backup, you can always manually select and copy the text.

Pasting from Excel/Sheets Adds Extra Spaces

When copying from spreadsheets, sometimes extra spaces or tabs are included. The tool is designed to trim whitespace, but for best results, paste as plain text if possible.

Pro Tips

  • Start with a broad set of keywords using the Keyword Mixer tool, then bring the final list here to wrap them.
  • For Single Keyword Ad Groups (SKAGs), paste one keyword at a time to get all three match types for that single term.
  • Use the 'Phrase Match' output for building your initial ad groups to maintain a good balance of reach and relevance.
  • Use the 'Exact Match' output for creating highly targeted ad groups for your top-performing, highest-intent keywords.
  • Don't forget to use the 'Broad Match' keywords (carefully) in combination with a strong negative keyword list to discover new search queries.
  • Combine this tool with the Typo Generator. Create typos of your core keywords first, then wrap them in phrase and exact match.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between phrase and exact match?

Phrase match (e.g., "seo consultant") can show your ad if the search query includes the phrase in that order, with other words before or after. Exact match (e.g., [seo consultant]) will only show your ad if the search is for that exact term, with no other words.

Is Broad Match Modified (BMM) supported?

No. Google deprecated Broad Match Modified in 2021 and rolled its behavior into Phrase Match. This tool focuses on the currently supported match types.

Why would I use Broad Match?

Broad match provides the widest reach and is excellent for keyword discovery. It allows Google's AI to find new, relevant search queries you might not have thought of. However, it requires careful monitoring and a robust negative keyword list to be profitable.

Can I use this for Microsoft Ads (Bing)?

Yes. Microsoft Ads uses the same syntax for phrase match (quotes) and exact match (square brackets) as Google Ads, so the output is fully compatible.

Does the order of my input keywords matter?

No, the tool processes each line independently. The order of the output will match the order of the keywords you enter in the input box.
